On September 15, 2018, the new online customer portal will be available for making water bill payments. After this date, you can create an account by visiting www.hcmud501.org and following the instructions below. Make individual or automatic payments online for a $1.00 fee, when paying by eCheck from a bank account or a 3% fee when paying by credit or debit card. If you made electronic payments in the past the previous website will redirect you to the new payment portal.

How to create an account:

1. Go to www.hcmud501.org
2. Click on Pay Your Water Bill
3. Click on link under Web Payments
4. Click on Sign up now
5. Follow online instructions beginning with your security code from your most recent water bill.

Changes to Our Auto-Pay Program

We are moving our auto-pay program to the Online Customer Portal beginning September 15, 2018. This change will not disrupt auto-payments set up through our original payment program and no action is required.

After September 15, 2018, we encourage you to sign on to the new customer portal and confirm/update your account information. If no changes are made by customer auto-pay will continue as originally set up.

Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 500, as Master District, provides the potable water supply to the Towne Lake Master District Service Area, including Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 501. The Master District purchases the potable water it provides to the Master District Service Area from the West Harris County Regional Water Authority. The Master District has provided notice that, beginning today, the West Harris County Regional Water Authority will shut off its water supply to the Master District for 7 to 10 days. The water is being turned off due to an emergency water main repair that will be performed by the City of Houston.

The Master District maintains interconnects with nearby municipal utility districts to provide potable water during service outages. The Master District’s operator, Environmental Development Partners, contacted those municipal utility districts, and Remington Municipal Utility District has indicated they have sufficient water supply capacity to serve the Master District Service Area. They will be providing approximately 600,000 gallons per day of potable water to the Master District to serve the Service Area, including Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 501.

In advance of the West Harris County Regional Water Authority shutting off its water supply to the Master District, the Master District’s operator reported that they opened, flushed and tested the interconnect with Remington Municipal Utility District to ensure it is operational and will provide adequate water supply. The Master District’s operator reported that this work was completed, and the interconnect was opened yesterday at noon. The Master District’s operator also reported that, due to the advance notice of the impending shut off, they were able to “top-off” the storage tanks at the Master District’s water plant. According to the Master District’s operator, in the event there is a failure of water supply from Remington Municipal Utility District, the Master District’s water plant will provide adequate water for a temporary period of time (up to about 12 to 16 hours), allowing the operator to respond and take corrective actions.

During this time, the Master District’s operator does not expect any customers in the Master District Service Area to be affected by this change of water supply. However, it is possible that there could be some customers experiencing water discoloration or noticing a difference in the water pressure.
